About news Every player of this site will get a monthly Newsletter edited from me. Additionally to the Newsletter sent by eMail I can make ideas, questions and answers from players public if they want it. Also you can find here rumors about VGAP and very important stuff from the VGAP community to different subjects. This news is not a complete replacement for any other newsgroups, clubs or such things. It is mainly for this site and its players.

Questionaire 2004 First let me tell you: A VERY BIG "THANK YOU!" TO ALL PLAYERS WHICH HAVE SUPPORTED THIS QUESTIONAIRE WITH THEIR INTERESTING ANSWERS AND OPINIONS! THE FEEDBACK WAS GREAT!!! SO, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!! As most of you know there is a nice questionaire about the players, the VGAP games and the host since March 2004. It is free to the members to answer all or some questions. I'm glad to tell you that we have had much feedback. Most players of you want to know about the result of this questionaire. As I've told you I'll not spread out personal data or private things. And I will not do it. But you can read about the common results about desire and general info. As a reflection of incoming data (and I don't want to reflect my own opinion) you can see about the players experience, how long he/she/it played VGAP and which other sites the player has visited (this is a good info because the people aren't only my site members!). My questionaire has three major parts: questions about a) the player himself, b) the VGAP games in general and c) about my host (for feedback). Many player don't play only one VGAP version but many. So the questionaire wasn't only for a special group of players (i.e. for version 4). I want to hear all opinions from different groups. Some people told me: "Hey, version 4 has no add-ons", or "Does a CPlayer exists for VGAP4?", or "Is there another client/viewer for Planets 4?" etc. ... They are a little bit confused by the questions. - Well, I know that. But as stated before I want to talk to all groups of players, not only the version 4 one. And luckily most players supported this by their answers. The good old known VGA Planets 3.0 and WinPlan 3.5 has 11 races. Planets 4 offers at the moment up to 20 races to a player. The names of the 11 races from VGAP3.x are mostly the same like the names of the races in VGAP4. So don't be confused. Some people would ask: why hasn't Erik devided players into version 3 and 4? Hmmm... I want a representative result from all versions - not a huge statistic! Both version player can see which races are liked and which not... When ever possible I've tried to get data to simple statements like "yes", "no" or similar expressions - even "doen't know" or "doesn't matter". Questions without any statement or answer aren't counted. For this questions I've made an entry: i. e. "1x no answer (only for counting)". This means: 1 player hasn't answered to the question. This helps in counting how many players answered to the question. Since you can't choose a statement from multiple choice I've allowed more than one answer to some questions. You can see it very good when counting how many times a statement or an option has been used. Some questions asks a player for more than a simple "yes" or "no". I've added some answers (when I've to translate it I've used my words to explain it!) for more info. You'll see a good representative combination of hints, help, need and - questions of players to me. ;) The "funniest" question was about 'how long do you play VGA Planets'... As I count back the years of the existing Planets versions I've found out that Tim must set up his very first version around 1991/1990. This was over 13 - whow - 14 years ago! Nobody has named that year... hehe... also Tim... But around the 13/12 years ago... whow... Some people told me they know VGA Planets 2.0!!! WHOW!!! - As a good reflection we have players at this site with VGAP experience between 0 month to 14 years. Yeah! That's cool!!! Another cool thing - it's not a joke!!! A player has stated himself as the world's greatest and best player of VGA Planets. Eh! Whow! Cool! We have a world champion here!!! - Hmmm... well, in german we say "...ich bin einfach nur Weltklasse!" which means the sayer is the world greatest, biggest, most wanted and beautiful... errg, well, you know the expression... muahhahahahahahahaa. Okay! I shut up now! Here we go now... But it's a nice feeling to have the best boy here. Hopefully we will meet Admiral Thrawn here in the future, too! But okay, I shut up!... ... ... VGA Planets Headquarter Forum Alex and Joerg, two players of my site, run a forum/board for questions & help about VGAP3.x and VGAP4. It's nice to see that there are games sorted by version no. and game name. Players (users) can join the board - just only sign in before (common procedure on most boards). Also the players can create an own forum (like for a game or an alliance they may have). Well, I'm often visiting this board, too. Just a short disclaimer by myself for this link: The admins of the board are Alex and Joerg and they are in charge of the contents at their board. They don't want to host their own games. Their suggestion for other hosts: 'if you are a host from another site and you haven't an own board you could also give your players a hint that they can join this board'. The main language at the board is English. Only in a few threads there are discussions in German, too. But the main language for common discussions is English. That's okay! It is possible to read some subjects as a guest. For writing messages you must log in before. Spacer's Forum Spacers's Forum is a small kind of a forum because my site can't use PHP/MySQL scripts at the moment. But it's still moderated in the same way... a player may send a request, explain a problem, or just want to hear another one's opinion... so he sends a message to me with a main subject line like "NEWS - (here your own topic or a reply to an existing thread)". The message should be only plain text (sometimes pictures are important, too). As usual the content will be checked by the moderator (mostly me) and then it would be public in the forum. You can find the forum at my site by clicking at Tavern (Main menu) and then Forum (sub Tavern menu). To write a message for the forum you only have to write a message to me. It may contains news, rumors, important or unnecessary things (relating to VGAP!). I only block messages with following contents: flames, troll-feeding, offending, private stuff (if clearly private), not seriously content, erotic and even spam! This forum is for public use (as long it has to do with this site and VGAP) - so only the players of this site can use it. You can make your own commentary or statements or explanation to the barman => send a message. send a message
