About this site

Spacecraft Portal was founded as a VGA Planets host site in the web at September 1st, 2000 - oh, that glory day... The hosting program still is PHCc and the site is also still a member of the VGA Planets Webring.

Over the years the site became bigger. Today it has over 300 pages about many subjects, infos and games, of course. Founded as a small fan site it's today a huge project which I'm still expanding. It's amazing to see how things getting better...

Today the main tasks of this site are:
  • hosting VGAP games and running the Spacecraft Portal Academy
  • hosting Trade Wars 2002 games
  • hosting Ports of Call games (still in work)
  • player support for VGAP, TW2002 and PoC (as a user help desk)
  • infos about Astronomy
  • infos about common infos etc.
  • the site still is a fan project without a commercial behaviour

  • The idea behind Spacecraft Portal was very old. In my very younger days in the eighties of the last century I worked on a small communication software for exchanging data between connected computers (C64 and C128, later also Amiga 500 and 2000). This was the time when the idea of Spacecraft Portal was born. In the nineties of the last century I ran BBS software on a PC while hosting VGAP 3.x games and still evolving the idea of Spacecraft Portal for a later time.

In 2000 I had found enough time again to create my fan site for the Internet. This was the final time as the project became real due to very many net users. It's just a chance but the name Spacecraft Portal has remarkable letters: the A (3x) and the O (1x). So the 3 ALPHAS remembers me of the three phases of this project. The OMEGA still has the message the all things with a beginning can have an end... ;)

In the last years thousands of visitors were tracked by the counter. For running VGAP games at my site I had about reliable 500 contacts world-wide overall. For a small site a good reputation.
